Salary and Affordability

Field Name Required? Description & Rules
Gross Salary No Enter the client's total salary before any deductions are made.• Note: A value of R 0.00 will cause an error ("Gross Salary not filled in") if you attempt to create a client budget. Gross income represents an individual's total earning before taxes or other deductions are taken out. It includes wages, salaries, investment returns and self-employment income.
Net Salary No Enter the client's take-home pay after all standard deductions. User access to change this field can be controlled by a security role. Net income is the client's take-home pay. It is the amount left after deductions such as taxes.
Percentage of Salary available for Instalment No Enter the percentage of the Net Salary that can be used for a monthly loan instalment. • South Africa: Please consider the NCR's Affordability Guidelines, which recommend a Debt Repayment to Income Cap of 40%. • Use this field OR the "Use Client Budget" option below.
Available for Instalment No This field automatically calculates the monetary amount available for an instalment based on the Net Salary and the percentage entered above. It updates automatically when salary figures change.
Overtime No Enter the average monthly amount the client earns from overtime pay.
Bonus Month No Select the month in which the client typically receives a bonus, if applicable.

Client Classification & System Flags

Use Client Budget No Select this checkbox if the system should use the detailed client budget to calculate affordability instead of the percentage method. • The client budget must be completed for this to function. • Access to change this setting can be controlled by a security role.
Force Compuscan Enquiry No Select this checkbox to require a Compuscan credit enquiry to be performed before any loan can be created for this client. • It is highly recommended to keep this enabled for all clients if you use the Compuscan service. • Access to change this setting can be controlled by a security role.
Historically Disadvantaged Person No Select this checkbox if the person: "is one of a category of natural persons who, before the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1993 (Act No. 200 of 1993), came into operation, were disadvantaged by unfair discrimination on the basis of race".
Juristic Person No Select this checkbox if the client is a juristic person, which: "includes a partnership, association or other body of persons, corporate or unincorporated, or a trust if— (a) there are three or more individual trustees; or (b) the trustee is itself a juristic person, but does not include a stokvel".
Standard Conditions Signed No Unselect this checkbox if the client has not yet signed the "Standard Conditions" document. • Note: The document template and printing functionality must be activated in the system setup for this feature to be relevant.
