Managing a Client's Budget

Navigation: Client Administration > Search for existing Client > Highlight the client > Edit Client button > Budget.

This guide explains the main functions available on the client's "Budget" screen, which displays a summary of all budgets created for that client.

Before You Begin: Prerequisites


Understanding the Budget List

The main part of this screen displays a list of the client's saved budgets. The table below explains the information shown in each column.

Column Name Description
Description The unique name or description you gave to the budget (e.g., "January 2025 Salary").
Available A checkmark indicates if the budget is active and available for use in affordability calculations.
Budget Date The date the budget was created or last updated.
Amount Available The final calculated amount the client has available for new loan instalments based on this budget .

After selecting a specific budget from the list by clicking on it, you can use the following buttons to manage it.

Button Function
Edit Budget Click this to modify the high-level details of the selected budget, such as its description or date.
Budget Items Click this to view, add, or edit the individual income and expense line items within the selected budget. This is where you build the detailed affordability assessment.
Print Budget Form Click this to generate and print a budget form, which can be given to the client to complete or sign.
Close Click this to exit the Budget screen and return to the main client profile screen.

Understanding the Budget Items List

The main part of this screen displays a list of all the individual line items that have been added to the selected budget.

Column Name Description
Description The name of the specific income or expense item (e.g., "Salary," "Rent," "Groceries").
Type Indicates if the item is an Income, anExpense, or Obsolete .
Amount The monetary value allocated to that specific item.

Available Actions

The following buttons are available on this screen to manage the budget items.

Button Function
Add a New Item Click this to open a new screen where you can add a new income or expense item to the budget.
Edit Item First, highlight an existing item from the list, then click this button to modify its description or amount.
Print Budget Click this to generate a full, printable report of the completed budget with all its line items.
Close / Back Click either of these buttons to exit the "Budget Items" screen and return to the previous client budget page.


Understanding the Calculations

The amount  Available for the Instalment is calculated as: (Gross Income) - (Minimum Expenses) - (Statutory Deductions) - (Existing Debt Repayments).
