3. Bookkeeping - General Journal Entries

This section outlines the functionality for recording manual journal entries, also known as general postings, within the system.

Functionality:

• Manual general postings allow you to record financial transactions that are not automatically generated by the system. These entries are user-initiated and provide flexibility for capturing various accounting activities.

Examples of General Postings:

• Receive cash from float
• Deposit cash to bank
• Salaries
• Groceries
• Bank Charges
• Event Creation:

To create a general posting event:

• Navigate to General Ledger > Process Transactions > Process a Transaction.
• Define the bookkeeping legs (debit and credit) for the transaction.
• Select the "General" event attribute.
• Bookkeeping Legs:
  • Debit Leg: Any account
  • Credit Leg: Any account

Cash Box Integration:

• Multiple general posting events can be linked to a cash box.
• You can only record transactions for events that are accessible through your assigned cash box.

User Roles and Permissions :

• Process Transaction: Grants access to the General Transaction Posting menu.

Posting Period Restrictions :

The system offers options to control the posting period for general transactions:

• Record in All Periods: Allows posting on any date.
• Record in Current and Previous Period: Allows posting only in the current and previous month.
• Record in Current Period: Allows posting only in the current month.

Default Behavior: If no specific option is selected, users can only post transactions for the current date ("today").
