SMS Module
The SMS Module
in MAXMONEY provides robust functionalities for managing communication, including secure
authentication, loan agreement signing, and various batch messaging options. This section
details the technical configuration and operational workflows for the MAXSMS
module within the MAXMONEY financial platform, developed by Mycomax for
credit providers. It outlines essential setup procedures, including the management of
prepaid SMS credits, threshold alerts, and the activation of
electronic signature protocols through One-Time Passwords (OTP). The guide
describes how to implement various automated and manual communication batches,
covering scenarios such as loan notifications, payment arrears, and birthday greetings. Additionally,
it provides specific instructions for user role permissions and the generation
of daily management reports (MIS) via text. Overall, these instructions serve as a comprehensive manual
for administrators to maintain effective client communication and
security within the system.
The
SMS
functions are currently available in South Africa, Namibia,
Botswana, Eswatini and Zambia.

This section outlines the workflow for key MAXSMS features.
Request Activation: The Microlender sends a request to Mycomax to activate the SMS module.
System Setup: The Microlender configures SMS features in MAXMONEY, including:
Enabling borrower's cell phone number enrolment.
Enabling Loan OTP (requires enrolment to be enabled).
Enabling Send Contract.
Client Enrolment: The user enrolls the client's cell phone number using an OTP.
The same cell phone number cannot be used for multiple borrowers.
Changing an enrolled cell phone number requires specific security access.
Loan Creation:
When creating a new loan, the OTP must be entered on the final page if the borrower was enrolled.
The OTP is verified. If correct, the loan is electronically signed with the borrower's details (Date, Time, Name, ID, Cell Number).
If the borrower cannot provide the OTP (e.g., lost phone), an authorized user can override the verification, but the loan must then be signed by hand by the borrower.
If the borrower does not have an enrolled cell phone number, the loan must be signed by hand.
Managers/Owners can audit loans using the Loan OTP audit reports.
DebiCheck/SEFT Mandate Creation for Existing Loan:
Mandates for existing loans must be signed again with an OTP.
Similar to loan creation, if the borrower cannot provide the OTP, an authorized user can override it, but the mandate must then be signed by hand.
If the borrower lacks an enrolled cell phone number, the mandate must be signed by hand.
